Paul Désert is Pharmacist by training and he holds two Masters, in Biological & Medical Sciences and in Toxicology. With more than 20 years of experience as Toxicologist in the pharmaceutical industry, he worked as study director for managing GLP toxicology studies, as project Toxicologist at Solvay Pharmaceuticals then Abbott Products GmbH (Hannover, Germany) before joining the Vaccines Division of Sanofi.
Paul Désert is currently serving as the Global Head of Non-clinical Safety & Predictive Sciences at Sanofi R&D Vaccins. His department assembles Non-Clinical Safety activities, the functional management of the Animal Unit running immunogenicity studies and other predictive assays. He also holds accountability to develop and coordinate all Sanofi New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) projects across the Sanofi Group R&D, in tight relation with Sanofi CSR, Scientific GBUs and Regulatory Affairs.
Paul’s Department plays a crucial role in supporting the development of innovative prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines, mainly through supporting entry into clinic or reaching the market, using advanced technologies and methodologies to forecast vaccine safety and efficacy profile.
