Dr. Avci holds a doctorate in continuum mechanics and simulation technology for multiphysics in porous media from the University of Stuttgart. For over 10 years, he has been researching computational modeling and simulation of the physiological and anatomical musculoskeletal system. At Fraunhofer IPA, Dr. Avci founded and leads the "In Silico Human Modelling & Orthopedics" research group, focusing on the development of virtual human models (digital twins) and in-silico simulation methods and processes. His research aims to promote in-silico analyses of virtual patients to enhance evidence for surgical decision-making in orthopedic surgery. Additionally, he aims to support the approval process for in-silico technologies using virtual patient cohorts to make medical device studies more efficient.
