Sandy Wright is Head of Devices at Scarlet, Europe’s only notified body specialising exclusively in software and AI. At Scarlet, he leads the development of an innovative conformity assessment process tailored for cutting-edge digital health technologies, ensuring regulatory rigour while enabling speed and innovation. Sandy plays a pivotal role in shaping how high-risk software and AI products achieve CE certification under the evolving EU regulatory framework.
Before stepping into his current role, Sandy served as Scarlet’s Clinical Lead, applying his medical background and digital health expertise to develop Scarlet’s clinical evaluation assessment process and build an experienced clinical team.
A former NHS doctor, after leaving clinical practice he gained experience developing innovative healthcare software at Syndi Health and Babylon Health.
Sandy is also a former Clinical Entrepreneur with NHS England and served for over six years on the Royal Society of Medicine’s Digital Health Council. He holds an MBBS in Medicine, an MSc in AI-Enabled Healthcare, and a first-class degree in Pharmacology, all from University College London.
With experience spanning clinical medicine, digital product development, and regulation, Sandy brings a rare and critical perspective to the safe and effective deployment of software and AI in healthcare.
