Philippe Favre leads the global computational biomechanics group at Zimmer Biomet, overviewing simulation activities in support of development of new orthopaedic implants and research activities. One recent project consisted in the development of an in silico clinical trial framework for regulatory application. He has been a key cross-functional team member for the successful global launch of several orthopaedic implant systems for knee, hip, shoulder or elbow replacement.
Prior to this, he worked for eight years in academic biomechanics research at the University of Zürich and ETHZ where he gained his PhD in 2011 on shoulder musculoskeletal modelling.
He has co-authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications, 6 patents, and has won several academic prizes.
