Health Products Director

Maria Judite Neves has been working for the last 29 years at INFARMED - National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, I.P.in medical devices area assuming, since 2008, the position of director of the Health Products Directorate. Over these 29 years, he has been a member of different national, European and international working groups, forums and task-forces related to the regulation of medical devices and cosmetics, highlighting those dependent on the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Competent Authorities.
She participated in the process of discussion and negotiation of several European legislation applicable to medical devices, highlighting her participation as national expert in the current discussion of the proposal to revise the legislative framework for medical devices at the Working Party on Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of the Council of the European Union.
She is the national representative in the Medical Devices Committee, a national expert in the MDCG, appointed in the context of the MDR and the IVDR, and also a member of the informal coordination group of the MDCG. She is the representative of the Portuguese competent authority in the group of European competent authorities for medical devices, the CAMD.
She was a regulatory auditor and assessor in the context of the European Joint Assessment to notified bodies.
She played the role of Legal Entity Appointed Representative, LEAR, for the European joint actions carried out by INFARMED, I.P. under the Health Programme 2014-2020.
She is a senior consultant pharmacist to the special pharmaceutical career and specialist by the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society in clinical analysis and regulatory affairs.
