NICE
Sophie Hughes is a Scientific Adviser within the Research team at NICE. Sophie has Master's degrees in public health and biochemistry. Sophie is the NICE lead for the Wellcome-funded project on the regulation and evaluation of digital mental health technologies. Sophie has also worked as technical lead for modular updates to NICE's methods manuals and as a health economist working on NICE guidelines.
Sophie previously worked as a senior health economist at Health Technology Wales, a Health Technology Assessment organisation with a HealthTech focus. Sophie developed economic models exploring diverse subject areas such as electronic blood management systems, pulmonary artery pressure sensors and video feedback interventions for families and at risk children. While at Health Technology Wales, Sophie led on methods development for social care and on providing rapid clinical and economic evidence reviews to support individual patient funding requests for non-medicines.
